Specialties
Skin Conditions and Chronic Ilness
As a counsellor, I am incredibly passionate about supporting those who have experienced trauma, as well as individuals navigating the challenges that can come with chronic health conditions and skin conditions. These experiences can affect many areas of life, including self-esteem, relationships, identity, and day-to-day wellbeing.
As someone who lives with a skin condition myself, I am aware of the many layers that can come with it the identity barriers, exhaustion, grief, fear, and both the emotional and physical pain that can sometimes be part of living with a long-term condition. I understand how isolating and overwhelming this can feel, and how deeply it can impact the way you see yourself and move through the world.
My aim is to meet you where you are. I take a trauma-informed approach, focusing first on creating foundations of safety, trust, and stability so that you feel supported before moving into deeper emotional processing. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly about your experiences and explore things at your own pace.
Together, we can work to make sense of your feelings, develop ways to cope, and support you in moving towards greater understanding, resilience, and self-compassion.
Trauma
Trauma doesn’t just affect our thoughts and emotions- it also impacts the body. Many people experience tension, aches, fatigue, or a heightened sense of alertness as a result of past trauma. The nervous system can become easily triggered, leaving us feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in survival mode.
In my practice, I include somatic work to help you reconnect with your body and build awareness of these physical responses. By exploring how trauma shows up in the body, we can begin to identify triggers and develop strategies to support your nervous system. This might include grounding exercises, breathwork, gentle movement, or other somatic techniques tailored to what feels safe and effective for you.
I take a trauma-informed approach and will always meet you where you are. Together, we build foundations that help you feel safe enough to begin making sense of your experiences, without pressure to share more than you feel ready to.
Trauma can be explored and processed in many different ways, and not everything has to be put into words. In our work together, we may use creative approaches such as metaphor, storytelling, emotion cards, and other gentle, expressive tools that can help make complex feelings easier to understand and communicate.
The goal is to help you feel more regulated, present, and in control, so that emotional processing becomes possible without overwhelming your system. Trauma healing works best when mind and body are supported together, and I am here to guide you every step of the way.
